Erin Thomas

Meteorologist
Memphis, TN
Erin Thomas

Erin Thomas is an AP Award-winning broadcaster who joined the Action News 5 team as a weekend meteorologist in April 2021. Her love for weather stems from growing up in Missouri where she experienced her fair share of severe weather.

Although a native Missourian, she is no stranger to the South. After interning in Nashville, Erin accepted her first job as a chief meteorologist in Savannah, Georgia and eventually relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee.

During her time on the East Coast, she tracked several hurricanes and tropical storms, including major Hurricane Matthew, that threatened the area. Aside from hurricanes, Erin also forecasted severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, the most notable in her career (so far) being the EF-3 Easter tornado that ripped through Chattanooga in 2020.

Erin has two dogs, Piper and Savannah, often referred to as “the girls” that she loves to spend all her free time with. She also enjoys arts and crafts.

She is excited to be part of the Action News 5 team and to call Memphis “home.”

Her favorite food is tacos, but she can’t wait to try all the amazing food the Bluff City has to offer. Be sure to email her your favorite must-try restaurants!

Watch Erin on Action News 5 Saturday and Sunday mornings.
