Suspect in drive-by shooting taken into custody
CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - A suspect in an early-morning shooting in Brookland has been taken into custody.
Detective Dustin Norwood with the Brookland Police Department said officers responded to a report of someone firing shots on Brookland Street shortly after 4 a.m. March 23.
When officers arrived, they found two uninjured victims.
Craighead County sheriff’s deputies located the suspect’s vehicle and stopped him on East Highland Drive near the Great Dane Drive intersection in Jonesboro.
An incident report from the Jonesboro Police Department revealed the suspect to be 34-year-old Tewon Jeremie Anthony of Trumann.
During the stop, Anthony told officers to “shoot him in the head” and that he was going to Chicago. Officers found a firearm and ammunition, along with fentanyl patches in the vehicle.
Anthony was arrested on charges of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, and aggravated assault on a family or household member.
On Friday, March 24, a Craighead County judge set Anthony with a cash-surety bond of $250,000.
