Greene County church distributes 2,500 pounds of food

PARAGOULD, Ark. (KAIT) - Dozens of families can thank a Paragould church and the Northeast Arkansas Food Bank for filling their plates with food.

On Saturday, July 16, volunteers at Brown’s Chapel Baptist Churchloaded up boxes full of food and fresh produce and handed them out to 51 families

In total, they distributed more than 2,500 pounds of food.

Senior Pastor Dale Noe says they’ve held these events since October 2020, but Saturday’s event was like none other.

“Adding the fresh produce, that was sort of a neat take,” said Noe. “They get their box and they pick out their fresh fruit.”

The pastor has seen an increase in seniors needing help, a group he says is often overlooked in typical food assistance programs.

The church plans to distribute 35 more boxes of food in the coming week.
